Cashmere Bed Socks

Bed socks are cut looser through the ankle so they don't leave marks or restrict circulation overnight. The knit is softer and finer than a hard-wearing outdoor sock, with no reinforced heel or toe. They're made for warmth in bed, not for wearing with shoes.

With bed-only wear and correct washing, several years. Cashmere is soft but not tough, so walking in them will thin the material; occasional journeys around the house won't do significant damage, but their life-span will shorten if you walk in them often.

We don't recommend it. Cashmere is fine-knit and unreinforced, so wearing with shoes wears them out quickly and can rub thin at the heel. Bed socks are best worn in bed (and for occasionally padding around the house.)

The ribbed knit at the ankle gives a gentle grip that holds the sock in place without cutting in. If you sleep restlessly or find socks generally slip off, size down. The mid-calf length also helps them stay put more than an ankle-length sock would.

Hand wash in cool water with a gentle wool or cashmere detergent, or use a wool cycle at 30 degrees Celsius in a mesh laundry bag. Reshape gently and lay flat to dry. Never tumble dry or wring out. Socks pill faster than jumpers; a cashmere comb tidies the surface.

One of the safer choices for a mid-price cashmere gift. Sizing is forgiving compared to knitwear, the piece feels indulgent without being extravagant, and they suit both self-purchase and gifting occasions. Good for anyone who runs cold in bed or lives in a colder climate.
