Everything begins with design. At Kiltane, we believe true sustainability starts here too. What are we making, and why? Our garments are crafted to last, not only in their quality but in their ability to outlive trends. We aim to create knitwear and woven pieces that become lasting favourites in your wardrobe.
Rather than following the conventional fashion calendar, we create two considered knitwear collections each year. These timeless designs are made to be worn season after season.
OUR SOURCING
Where we come from matters, and so does where our materials come from. We are proud of our partnerships with expert suppliers in Inner Mongolia and here in Scotland, where environmental responsibility, animal welfare and community care are at the heart of everything. Our supply chain is built on trust and shared values, with responsible practices such as:
- Responsible Grazing: Suppliers use rotational grazing and land stewardship that supports long-term pasture health.
- Animal Welfare: The wellbeing of animals providing our lambswool and cashmere is prioritised through ethical nutrition, living conditions and veterinary care.
- Environmental Conservation: We reduce environmental impact through eco-conscious farming, efficient water use and low-impact dyeing methods.
- Supporting Local Communities: Our partners uphold fair labour practices and contribute to the wellbeing of communities in Inner Mongolia and Scotland.
OUR FABRICS
We work exclusively with 100% natural fibres, including our signature cashmere, lambswool and Harris Tweed. All are selected for their softness, warmth and durability. Each material is biodegradable and naturally luxurious, allowing you to invest in garments that are both beautiful and kind to the planet.
Cashmere
Responsibly sourced from Inner Mongolia, our cashmere is collected during the goats’ natural moulting process. This fine fibre is transformed into sumptuously soft yarn that is breathable, hypoallergenic and incredibly warm. Cashmere is one of the world’s softest natural fibres and provides up to three times the warmth of sheep’s wool.
Lambswool
Our lambswool is gathered during the first shearing of young sheep, using practices that prioritise animal welfare and environmental balance. This fine wool is spun into exceptionally soft, warm and resilient yarns. It offers a more accessible alternative to cashmere without compromising on comfort or quality.
Harris Tweed
Woven exclusively in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland, our Harris Tweed is made from 100% virgin wool. Protected by the Harris Tweed Act of 1993, each fabric is handwoven by artisans using traditional methods that embrace both heritage and sustainability. Incredibly durable, breathable and water-resistant, Harris Tweed brings together practicality and timeless style.

We believe the life of a garment does not end at the point of purchase. That is why we are committed to extending the lifespan of every Kiltane piece and helping you care for the garments you love.
OUR AFTERCARE
We have partnered with Cashmere Circle, a collective of luxury knitwear and textile care experts, to offer a specialist repair and revive service for both knitted garments.
From invisible mending of moth holes to larger bespoke repairs, their skilled team will lovingly refurbish your treasured Kiltane pieces. Each item undergoes gentle cleaning, de-pilling, pressing and detailed repair to help extend its life while reducing waste. The full revive service includes:
- Expert cleaning and de-pilling
- Pressing to refresh the garment’s shape
- Invisible mending of holes, including those uncovered during the cleaning process
- Careful patching of more extensive areas where needed
This partnership reflects our belief that luxury should last and that garments with a story deserve to be worn for many years to come.
We also provide simple, straightforward care instructions with every Kiltane item. With the right approach, your garments will remain soft, strong and stylish for years.
