Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between a crew neck and a polo neck cashmere jumper?
▼
Crew necks have a round, close-to-neck opening that sits flat at the collarbone. Polo necks (also called turtlenecks) rise up the neck and can be folded or worn straight. Crew necks work under shirts and blazers; polo necks stand on their own.
Are Kiltane's cashmere crew necks slim fit or relaxed?
▼
They're cut slim through the body without being tight, closer to a fitted knit than an oversized one. Sizing runs standard. If you want a more relaxed fit, sizing up one is the safer move than assuming the standard cut runs loose.
Will a cashmere crew neck shrink if I wash it wrong?
▼
Yes. Hot water and machine agitation will felt cashmere and shrink it permanently. Wash cold at 30 degrees Celsius or below on a wool cycle in a mesh bag, or by hand. Reshape flat while damp and dry away from radiators. Never tumble dry.
Are cashmere crew necks warm enough on their own, or better as a layer?
▼
Our cashmere crew necks are warm enough on their own for autumn and mild winter days. In colder weather, they layer well under a coat without adding visible bulk. Cashmere holds warmth for its weight better than most wool, so a single crew neck often replaces two layers of a coarser knit.
